Modern Day Princess and the Pea?

by | Uncategorized | 2 comments

When I was younger, I remember reading the story of the Princess and the Pea. Maybe I’m a princess at heart, but I don’t sleep well.

I don’t like my bed.

There. I said it. The truth is out.

Our mattress is only a couple of years old. I LOVED it…at first. So comfy. The place where I slept fitfully and well…you know. 😉

A couple of months ago, I had this brilliant idea of rearranging my bedroom to make room for my writing desk. Our house, while not tiny, has limited “me space.” So my ever-so-patient hubby helped me move furniture, knowing full well I’d probably ask him to do it again soon.

So we turned our bed and put the headboard against the opposite wall. Then realization snapped me like a wet towel.

For the first time in over 20 years of marriage, I would be sleeping on the wrong side of the bed.

I’ve perfected my sleeping position. I slept on my left side, knee at 90 degree angle with my arms hugging my pillow.

Well, I tried that on my right side. Just does not work. It’s like wearing your pants backward–yes, they’re on, but oh so uncomfortable.

Oh, and another thing…I’ve been having the weirdest, craziest dreams ever since I switched sides.

This morning I hobbled out of bed like an eighty-five-year-old woman. My shoulder hurts. My hand feels numb. My back aches. Whine whine whine.

Tomorrow the bed goes back to the original position. Hopefully while moving it again, we won’t find any peas.

LOL what a fun post!!! Sometimes change isn't always the best is it! At least you can get back to your normal side of the bed soon!

Changing my side of the bed has never bothered me, when needed my hubby will swap, like if I'm not feeling well and need to be closer to the bathroom, but if I have my choice I prefer to be farther away from the door… just a security thing I suppose!

I'm back on my regular side of my bed and slept so well last night!! Thanks for reading, Jen. 🙂
